A native of Cape Verde, Cesária Évora is the undisputed queen of the morna, songs of sadness and longing. After a rocky career, her album Miss Perfumado accelerated her comeback in 1992. She's achieved international acclaim and it was Sodade, the single from that album, that propelled her onto the world stage.
