Parsecs and Podcast Peers

In conventional terms, parsec is a hybrid of the words parallax and second. According to Wikipedia:

The parsec ("parallax of one arcsecond", symbol pc) is a unit of length, equal to just over 30 trillion kilometres, or about 3.3 light years. The parsec is used in astronomy, and its length is defined as the distance from the sun at which two imaginary lines—one projected from the Earth, and one projected from the sun at a right angle to a third line connecting the Earth and the sun—intersect in space at an angle of 1 arcsecond.

However, Parsec in the world of portable media is an award given to standouts in the speculative fiction podcasting community. Now in their third year, the Parsecs were named at Dragon*Con at an event emceed by Mur Lafferty and John Cmar.

Special congratulations to Scott Sigler for "Red Man" in Best Speculative Fiction Story (Short Form); Mur Lafferty for two wins: "Playing For Keeps" in Best Speculative Fiction Story (Long Form) and "Heaven - Season Four: Wasteland" as Best Speculative Fiction Story (Novella Form); Christiana Ellis for "Space Casey" in Best Speculative Fiction Audio Drama (Short Form including Independents); and Tee Morris for "Billibub Baddings and the Case of the Singing Sword" in Best Speculative Fiction Audio Drama (Long Form including Independents). Congratulations, as well, to the rest of the estimable winners of the Parsecs.

Thanks to this year's steering committee for all their hard work: Doug Kress from Slice of Trivia at Slice of SciFi, Kristin Mayo of Food Geeking; Thomas Vincent from Wingin' It 3-D.

Thanks for the love, Ms. Information. While I was totally robbed for Best Novel at the Parsecs (I'll get you, Lafferty!!!!), it was an honor to receive the Podcast Peer award. Thanks for the endless support, my goddess. :)
