It’s elementary.

If it were typographically more subtle, I would totally wear this.

Bad bedtime choices

I watched a flick about the RAF—Rote Armee Fraktion—before bedtime. The Baader Meinhof Complex, to be exact.

At 6 am I dodged a Molotov Cocktail. And then I woke up with a shriek and a hypnogogic start. [Jesus H, what a way to start the day.]

Coincidence?

I'm just saying.

When your iTunes jumps from Rage Against the Machine to Bomba Estéreo to Neubauten and then to Guys and Dolls like mine did, there's just no point in questioning why you're so effed up.

It's pretty apparent.

Another conversation

At a restaurant, ordering drinks before dinner, reading the cocktail descriptions...

Me: This one also has tequila, pineapple, grenadine... yikes.

Him: Apparently, now you can put anything in that glass and call it a martini.

A conversation

After taking pictures at an outdoor event for kids, I returned to the studio where Geo was working on some charts.  As usual, I was dressed
entirely in black — jeans, V-neck, boots, Ray-Bans.

Geo: Hey, look at you, rock star!

Me: Yes, I dressed for the children.

Geo: Marcello Mastroianni's children.

Cops, Kids and Reading

One of the most positive initiatives connected with the Bethlehem Police Department is their involvement with the Cops 'n' Kids Reading program.

There's a big event at Looper's Grille & Bar on Saturday, April 24th. It's the 4th Annual Celebration of Reading and it sounds like a lot of fun for kids and their families. The performance schedule between 11 am and 3 pm includes everything from the Parkettes to Kim's Black Belt Academy to different musical groups ranging from bagpipers to The Dirty Sock Funtime Band. The Police Department will be there, of course, as will the Mounted Patrol Unit. Even the Peeps Mobile is going to make an appearance!

Cops 'n' Kids is a national Children's Literacy Program founded by Julia Burney Witherspoon, a police officer from Wisconsin. The dynamo behind the local chapter of the Cops 'n' Kids program is Bev Bradley, an amazing woman. Please do check out the important work that they do. It's quite something.

Here's the poster for the event.

Hipsta-cosmic

Was lovely spending time with @BadAstronomer ! He is a swell ... on Twitpic

That guy? He happens to be one of my favorite people on this or any planet, the sublime Dr. Phil Plait, Bad Astronomer. The reason for this post is simply that my friend Amy Roth, aka the ridiculously talented @SurlyAmy, took a gorgeous portrait of Dr. Plait recently. And I had to share it.

This little hipstasnap is so painterly and a very evocative image of a wicked smart dude with a sensitive side.

A mission of balance

We need to have the

tough eye of a skeptic and the

Peeps Show IV

The Washington Post diorama contest winner of

Peeps Show IV.

From the page:

"For their winning diorama based on the Pixar flick "Up" Michael Chirlin and Veronica Ettle of Arlington constructed a miniature Victorian house from plywood and Popsicle sticks, and placed it atop salvaged mattress springs to give it an airborne quality."

Dude, we've all been there.
